After I ate, I went to Chapters and bought a few books. I spent a lot of money, but I think it was worth it. They have a sale on right now buy three books get the fourth free. Score! I bought Living Vegetarian for Dummies - I love the dummy books. I thought it was a good idea as I'm still fairly new to this veggie lifestyle and this book looks like it really provides a easy to read guide into the world of vegetarianism. I also bought a awesome vegetarian cookbook by good housekeeping called Family Vegetarian cooking. I bought this one simply because the book was packed with photos and all the recipes looked delicious and easy to make. Plus each recipe has the nutritional info included for easy WW point calculations! The third and forth books I bought were Skinny Bitch and The 100-Mile Diet. I've spoken on this blog about the Skinny Bitch book before. A friend of mine had it at work and I started reading it. I found it very funny and to the point. It caught my attention right away. I think it really pushes the vegan diet, but I'm looking forward to reading the whole thing and taking tips from it here and there.
The 100-mile diet book I had no intention of buying tonight, but when I picked it up I found it intriguing. It's about a couple in Vancouver, British Columbia that decided for one year to only eat food that is grown/produced within a 100 mile radius of their apartment. They end up "transforming themselves from mega-mart shoppers to self sufficient urban pioneers" - this is what the back of the book tells me anyway! ;-) I did read the first few pages at chapters though and was hooked. I want to know how they did it, so I bought the book. Plus, it's nice to read something Canadian once and awhile.
